Pressure

  • In the fluid system pressure intensity due to my molecular present in the system
  • Pressure intensity is defined as the P is equal to F divide by A

P=F/A,,
Where ,F= normal force to the area / total force
A=analysed area
P=pressure intensity

Unit of pressure

  • SI unit =Newton per metre square
  • CGS unit =dyne per centimetre square
  • 1 ATM=101325 Newton per metre square
  • 1 bar= 10^5 Newton per metre square
  • 1 PSI= 694 2.66 Newton per metre square
  • 1 torr=1 mm of HG

 NOTE
 relation between units
1 ATM=101325 Newton per metre square=1.01325 bar= 14.6 psi=760 mm of HG or 760 torr

order of units

ATM >bar> PSI >torr>Newton per metre square

Pressure intensity at one point

dP=¶gdH
2017-ssc je
(in hydrostatic fluid =relative motion not present between fluid layer) dP=¶gdH

  1. absolute system
  2. gauge system
